Head of KMG Familiarized Himself with the Development Progress of the Prorva Group of Fields of "Embamunaigas" JSC
The Chairman of the Management Board of "KazMunayGas" National Company JSC, Askhat Khassenov, visited the Prorva group of fields of "Embamunaigas" JSC (EMG) in the Atyrau region, where he familiarized himself with the progress of implementing projects to improve the efficiency of oil and gas production.
The Head of KMG visited the Karasor Zapadny (West Karasor) field, where commercial development has begun with approved recoverable reserves of 2 million tonnes of oil. The launch of this project will allow EMG to increase its total production by 65 thousand tonnes of oil in 2026.
The company is also focused on increasing gas production. The first stage of a project was launched at Zapadnaya Prorva (West Prorva) in November 2025, within which the field began supplying 100 million cubic meters of gas per year. Concurrently, construction of facilities for transporting 60 million cubic meters per year of associated petroleum gas from the Sagidolla Nurzhanov field is underway. In the next stage, planned for 2027, the annual production capacity will increase by another 500 million cubic meters of gas.
Askhat Khassenov also heard a report on the construction of a complex gas treatment unit at the Yugo-Vostochnoye Novobogatinskoye (South-Eastern Novobogatinskoye) field in the Isatay district. The commissioning of the unit next year will not only ensure annual supplies of additional volumes of marketable and liquefied hydrocarbon gas to the domestic market but will also allow for an increase in the field's oil production from 24 thousand to 110 thousand tonnes per year.
In addition, EMG is actively involving hard-to-recover reserves (HTRR) from high-viscosity and low-permeability reservoirs in the development process, which account for more than half of the recoverable reserves. As a result of the geological and technical measures carried out, oil production from HTRR reached 750 thousand tonnes this year, which constitutes 26% of the annual production.
In order to replenish the resource base and maintain oil production levels, additional exploration of operating fields is being carried out. As a result of the measures implemented, the increase in recoverable reserves in 2025 amounted to 2.7 million tonnes. A number of areas are also being considered for prospect evaluation within the framework of geological subsurface study.
Work is underway to optimize current costs and increase operational efficiency to improve economic performance at low-profit fields.
For the 11 months of 2025, EMG produced 2 million 601 thousand tonnes of oil, exceeding the plan by 32 thousand tonnes. Overall, according to the approved plan, the measures being taken will allow for an increase in oil production by 202 thousand tonnes and an increase in marketable gas sales by 700 million cubic meters annually over the next 5 years.
The Head of KMG instructed the management of Embamunaigas to ensure the high-quality implementation of current investment projects, an increase in production indicators, cost reduction, and continued improvement of the social and living conditions of employees.
