Embamunaigas Implements Advanced Seismic Survey Technologies
JSC "Embamunaigas" (a subsidiary of KMG), within the framework of research and development (R&D) activities, is applying the innovative wireless data acquisition system STRYDE at the Gran field in the Atyrau region.
The system consists of the world's most compact and ultra-light autonomous receivers, weighing 150 grams, which can withstand extreme temperatures and operate continuously for 28 days without recharging during non-stop data acquisition. Unloading the highly detailed and high-quality information takes only 4 hours. This significantly increases the efficiency of collecting and processing seismic survey data.
One specialist can carry and install up to 90 receivers. Overall, the system allows for the easy deployment of a high-density observation network. This reduces the number of personnel involved by up to 50%, increases productivity by 4 times, reduces the weight of field equipment by 20 times, decreases the number of field vehicles by 80%, and cuts field operation time by an average of 30%.
Furthermore, the use of the system minimizes environmental impact, enhances the level of industrial safety, and reduces the costs of geological exploration work.
It is noteworthy that young specialists from the S. Utebayev Atyrau University of Oil and Gas are involved in the project's implementation, thereby contributing to the professional development of Kazakhstani personnel and the scientific and practical base as a whole.
Modern seismic data will enable a fresh assessment of mature oil and gas fields and create opportunities for extending their life cycle. Embamunaigas views the "Gran" project as a practical example of the synergy between science and technology, providing a foundation for further innovation implementation.

"Embamunaigas" JSC is a subsidiary of "KazMunayGas" National Company JSC. The official history of "Embamunaigas" JSC dates to 1922 — from the creation of the "Embaneft" trust to develop the Dossor and Makat fields. The main activities of the company include geological exploration, development of oil and gas fields, extraction of oil and gas, and preparation of oil and gas.
"Embamunaigas" JSC includes 6 production structural divisions located in Atyrau city and 4 districts of Atyrau Region: "Zhaiykmunaigas", "Dossormunaigas", "Kainarmunaigas", "Zhyloimunaigas", the management of "Embamunaienergo", and the "Production and Technical Service and Equipment Supply Department" (PTSD and ES). The company supplies extracted oil for both exports and the domestic market. Domestically, oil is delivered to oil refineries of the Republic of Kazakhstan. For export, oil is transported via two main routes: through the pipelines of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) and Uzen-Atyrau-Samara (UAS). The sale of commercial gas is carried out through the national operator of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of gas and gas supply — "QazaqGaz" NC JSC.
From 2012 to 2024, "Embamunaigas" JSC has allocated 1 trillion 780 billion 977 million tenge for tax payments to the National Fund, the republican and local budgets; 7 billion 212 million tenge has been allocated for the social development of the region.
