A large-scale project for the utilization of associated petroleum gas was implemented in "Embamunaigas" JSC
The company "Embamunaigas" (a subsidiary of KazMunaiGas) has implemented a large-scale project for the utilization of associated petroleum gas (APG) in the oil and gas production department "Zhaiykmunaigas".
A gas piston power plant (GPPP) with a capacity of 4.8 MW has been built and put into operation at the Yugo-Zapadnoye Kamyshitovoye field. It provides electric power to the Yugo-Zapadnoye Kamyshitovoye, Yugo-Vostochnoye Novobogatinskoye and Yugo-Vostochnoye Novobogatinskoye nadkarniznoye, Yugo-Vostochnoye Kamyshitovoye and Zhanatalap fields.
The main goal of the GPPP is the effective utilization of associated petroleum gas and the simultaneous provision of fields with electric power for production and household needs.
The use of associated petroleum gas for the generation of its own electric power also makes it possible to reduce the dependence of oil and gas producing enterprises on external sources of electric power supply, which significantly reduces the costs of purchasing electric power from the external grid. As a result of the project implementation, the savings on the purchase of electric power will be 55%.
The project for the construction of the GPPP using associated gas fully complies with the principles of environmental safety and economic efficiency that "Embamunaigas" JSC adheres to in its work.
The project has proven its effectiveness and in the future, it is planned to scale it up to other production departments of "Embamunaigas" JSC.
