He graduated from the Petroleum Faculty of the Kazakh Polytechnic Institute n.a. V.I. Lenin with a degree in mining engineer-geologist.
He began his career in 1985 in the “Embaneft” production association, where he subsequently passed all stages of production from the operator to the General director of Embamunaigas JSC.
2006 - 2008 – Deputy Director of the Department of Geology and Development, Director of the Geology and Development Department of KazMunayGas Exploration and Production JSC;
2008-2015 – Executive Director for Oil and Gas Production, Managing Director for Geology, Geophysics and Reservoirs, Chief Geologist, Deputy Chairman of the Board of JSC NC KazMunayGas for Geology and Promising Projects, Managing Director for Non-operational assets (Tengiz, Kashagan, Karachaganak), Managing Director for Geology.

In 2006, he defended his dissertation at Tomsk Polytechnic University with the qualification “Candidate of Geological and mineralogical Sciences”.
In 2021, at the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas, he defended his dissertation with the degree of Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences.
Laureate of the State Prize in the field of Science and Technology named after al-Farabi, Professor of the Oil and Gas Exploration Department at Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas, Academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences (RAS).
He was awarded the Order of “Kurmet”, the badges “Honorary Prospector of the Subsoil of the Republic of Kazakhstan” and “Honored Worker of the oil and gas industry”.
