Embamunaigas JSC summarised the results for the first half of 2023 in terms of occupational health and safety
JSC "Embamunaigas" (hereinafter referred to as EMG or the Company) held an extended meeting of the Health, Safety and Environment Committee (hereinafter referred to as HSE) with participation of heads of production structural units (PSU), employees responsible for HSE and heads of contractors.
Sabit Arynov, General Director of Embamunaigas JSC, delivered an address on promotion of safety culture, personal commitment of each EMG and contractor employees to safe labour requirements:
"I urge the entire team and every employee not to be a detached observer, but to be an active participant in the safety system, to pay vigilant attention to themselves, their colleagues, to monitor their health, the serviceability of the equipment of production facilities and to help the company's management in ensuring safety at work. Safety starts with each one of us! Day by day, step by step to reach the goal of zero safety indicators!"
Then, Kairat Saktaganov, Chief Technical Manager for Health, Safety and Environment, gave a presentation on 'Vital Rules' - a set of key HSE compliance requirements that all EMG and contractor employees must adhere to.
Anuarbek Karimov, Director of the Labour and Environmental Protection Department of JSC "Embamunaigas", briefed the audience on HSE reporting data for the first half of 2023. According to him, the Company and its contractors, whose number totals 9080 people (EMG - 4292 people, contractors - 4788 people), carry out targeted preventive work to prevent accidents and incidents. As a result, no production-related fatalities were reported at EMG and its contractors in the first six months of the current year. Also, no fires or road accidents were registered in the Company, but there was one case of occupational injuries (H1 2022 - 2). Nevertheless, a number of complaints were made to the heads of contractor organisations in terms of compliance with the requirements of Biological Safety and Environmental Standards, especially traffic rules. In the first six months of 2023, they had 4 road accidents (4 in the first half of 2022).
EMG management emphasised that the principle of zero tolerance for safety violations should also be a priority for contractors' employees.
In future, a meeting of the above Committee will be held for Embamunaigas' PSP on a monthly basis and for contractors on a quarterly basis.
In addition, there was a presentation of the project on the introduction of electronic authorisation orders, which has already started to operate in EMG.
