Stability - for employees, efficiency - for the shareholder

Yesterday, on March 12, as part of working visit to Atyrau Oblast, Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Gulshara Abdykhalikova, Minister of Labour and Social Protection Berdybek Saparbayev, Akim of Atyrau Oblast Nurlan Nogayev met with business community of the region in the main office of “Embamunaygas” JSC (further EMG or Company). 

During the meeting with businessmen G. Abdykhalikova spoke about the unprecedented measures of state support allocated in framework of implementation of instructions of the Head of State N.A. Nazarbayev at the XVIII convention of “Nur Otan” party to increase incomes and support vulnerable social groups, to resolve the question of housing for low-income citizens, to improve education and health care, and to develop regions in a comprehensive manner. During his speech, B. Saparbayev provided statistics on employment of labour resources in Atyrau Oblast, coverage of enterprises by collective agreements, wage arrears, etc., focusing attention of large and medium-sized businesses on prevention of discrimination of Kazakhstani workers by working conditions.

- Since its founding in 1922 to this day, EMG is a city-forming and socially-oriented enterprise. These principles are reflected in our mission, which we follow during our operations to ensure stability for the company employees and efficiency for the shareholder by balancing social and business interests. The main value of the Company is to ensure protection of life and health of our employees, and in 2018 we achieved zero fatalities and accidents. From 2012 to 2018, EMG allocated over 897.1 billion tenge for payment of taxes and deductions to the budget, including 199.2 billion tenge in 2018. During this period, over 4.3 billion tenge have been allocated to development of social infrastructure of Atyrau Oblast, including 1.9 billion tenge in 2018, - Chairman of the Board of the Company Anuar ZHAKSYBEKOV said in his speech, detailing the performance of EMG’s social obligations towards the State and local community, as well as measures of social support for the company employees.

In recent years, as part of sponsorship and charity activities, EMG has supported more than 170 public organizations and individuals. In the latter case, assistance was provided to children with oncological diseases, cerebral palsy, diseases of musculoskeletal system, etc., who need urgent surgical treatment abroad and subsequent rehabilitation. The company annually allocates funds to support pensioners of the Company: makes payments for holidays, reimburses costs of newspapers and magazines subscription, health resort treatment and purchase of medication.

Under the current Early Retirement Programme, workers of some professions associated with hard physical labour (operators, slickline operators, drivers, machine operators, electric and gas welders) have the option of early retirement reaching 58 years of age with receiving a monthly benefit of 48%-50% of salary for up to 5 years. The programme is designed to support employees, who dedicated many years to Emba. From 2014 to 2018, 237 people (213 men and 24 women) used the opportunity provided by this Programme.

93 students have been trained over three years of dual training programme at the EMG production sites, of whom 40, who scored the highest points in the final test, have been employed at the Company. Today, 23 students continue on-the-job education, with 19 students joining the study programme in 2019.

Under the current Collective Agreement, Company provides employees with high social support. In addition to stable competitive wages and voluntary medical insurance in case of illness, and medical care for employees and their families, a wide range of additional social benefits is provided.

Employees themselves initiate provision of great support to the local community. In 2015-2016 employees organized a fundraiser and transferred one-day salary to help residents of Atyrau and its suburbs, whose homes were in critical condition as a result of spring heavy rains. With the funds raised by Embinians, four houses for citizens whose families have children with disabilities were repaired in 2015, and a new house was built instead of the one unfit to reside in, for a single pensioner. In 2016, a new house was built for a resident of Atyrau. In a family with four children, two have serious illnesses.

Last year, large team of EMG assisted the residents of Zyryanovskiy District of the East Kazakhstan Oblast affected by severe flooding. In the course of the voluntary fund-raising announced in the Company, the total amount transferred to the affected Kazakhstanis by the Emba oilmen was about 12 million tenge. With these funds transferred to the charity Fund “Zyryanovsk is Our Town”, four apartments and three houses were purchased for residents of villages of Maleyevsk, Zubovsk and the suburbs of Zyryanovsk, whose houses were flooded and were beyond repair. 

Every year, Company arranges New Year Charity Fairs, with the proceeds used to purchase gifts for children with disabilities, children tutored at home for health reasons, and other vulnerable social groups.

Officially, the foundation of “Embamunaygas” JSC start from 1922 - since the foundation of “Embaneft” Trust for development of the Dossor and Makat fields.
