Forum was organized by Kazakhstan Society of Reservoir Geologists and «KAZENERGY» association. Official support was provided by the RoK Ministry of Energy, Geology and Subsoil use Committee of the RoK MIR, “National Company” KazMunayGas” JSC. The sponsors of the Forum were: “Embamunaygas” JSC, “Uzenmunaygas” JSC and other companies.

Purpose of the Forum – provide active assistance in geological development, implementation of innovation technologies and attraction of investments.

- Issues for discussion at this Forum – status of geological exploration works in Kazakhstan, analysis and perspectives of resource potential of hydrocarbons reserves, peculiarities of subsoil resource potential, restoration of hydrocarbons reserves, off-shore fields development peculiarities, application of innovation technologies and many other issues. All these issues now become more actual when we are exploring very deep reserves, - said in his welcome speech to Forum participants, the RoK Minister of Energy, Kanat BOZUMBAYEV.

“KazMunayGas” E&P JSC General Director, Kurmangazy ISKAZIYEV has shared with some results of geological exploration activities in Mangyshlak and Caspian basins – in particular, the discussion was about Uzen and Karaton fields:

- We have performed a detailed analysis of early geological exploration works and by the result of which we have selected three wells for drilling at Uzen and Karaton fields. After undergoing internal corporate endorsements, we have started studying Palaeozoic deposits at 6km depth for the first time in Uzen field.

According to the information from Iskaziyev, based on 3D seismic results, specialists have reviewed three spots for drilling new wells to discover reserves in sub salt layer in Karaton field. For each proposed development well a geological success probabilistic analysis was performed.

- Lately, EMG undertakes a massive work on implementation of new technologies to enhance production efficiency, digitalization, systematization and optimization of business processes. A number of business development projects was executed, - noted in his report during the session dedicated to new approaches in geological exploration, EMG BoD Chairman. Anuar ZHAKSYBEKOV.

According to the Company director, main issue for “Embamunaygas” is the restoration of reserves, therefore, one of the main EMG business stream is geological exploration work.

- Performed works have allowed us significantly increasing reserves for the last several years in the existing fields. And works in this stream are still ongoing, - noted A. Zhaksybekov.

One more speech of the EMG Director was dedicated to the execution of digitalization at Company fields.

- In 2016, the “Intelligent field” pilot project was implemented at small field “Uaz”, and replicated in Prorva group of fields. This year it is implemented at two fields – “Zhanatalap” of OGPC “Zhaikmunaygas” and “Vostochnyi Makat” of OGPC “Dossormunaygas”. Due to implementation of “Digital field” concept” at “Uaz” field, the workover period in Q1 2018 has increased up to 1500 days, power saving in 2017 was more than 35%,, - summarized EMG head.

The competition called “Izbasar” was held between young geologists up to 35 years age as part of the Forum. Yerbol ZHUMAGULOV, 2 category geologist from the field after S. Nurzhanov of OGPC “Zhylyoimunaygas”, was recognized as best geologist, and was awarded with 200 000KZT certificate.

Winner of the contest between “Objectively about geology” media employees held as part of «Kazakhstan Geology Forum: Oil&Gas 2018» was recognized and awarded with 200 000KZT certificate an honoured journalist of Kazakhstan, who has led the editorial office of Atyrau social-political newspaper "Prikaspiskaya kommuna", Lubov MONASTYRSKAYA. Lubov Mikhailovna has presented for the jury more than ten publicaitons dedicated to national geological exploration activities well known to Kazakhstan geologists and issues in this important branch. Second place in the contest was given to an honoured journalist of Kazakhstan, winner of RoK Journalists Union awards, Kenzhebek SEITMUKHAMMEDOV, who presented an encyclopaedic collection “Pride of country – Reservoir geologists VI” as a contest work.

Officially, the foundation of “Embamunaygas” JSC start from 1922 -  since the foundation of “Embaneft” trust to develop Dossor and Makat fields.
