Today, in the oil capital of Kazakhstan, Atyrau city, a number of events took place dedicated to the 120th anniversary of Kazakhstan oil. The facilitators of these festive events were the RoK Ministry of Energy, “National Company” KazMunayGas” JSC (further NC KMG), KAZENERGY Association under the support of “Embamunaygas” JSC (further EMG) and other large oil and gas companies of Atyrau oblast.
In the morning of the 1st of September, at the territory of Atyrau oil and gas unversiry (further – AOGU) campus located at the Baimukhanov str. 45A, a monument was opened after Kazakhstan oilman, first discover of West Kazakhstan fields – Safi Utebayev, name of which was awarded to this educational facility. During the ceremony, welcome speeches wer emade by the Atyrua oblast deputy governor, A. Krambayev, «KAZENERGY» Association deputy chairman, AOGU after S. Utebayev BoD Chairman, U. KARABALIN, Kazakhstan reservoir geologists society chairman, B. KUANDYKOV, EMG BoD Chairman, A. ZHAKSYBEKOV, daughter and son of S. Utebayev, and others.
- it is symbolic that the celebration of 120th anniversary of Kazakhstan oil coincided with 110 aniversary Kazakhstani reservoir engineer, talented manager and organizer, the patriarch of national oil and gas sector – Safi Utebayev. Along with other pioneers, he laid the foundation of the oil and gas complex of the country, - noted in his welcome speech, Uzakbay KARABALIN.
After the ceremonial opening and laying of flowers to the monument, participants visited the museum after S. Utebayev which was opened in the foyer of oil and gas faculty of AOGU.
Next was the opening of new office building of “KMG Engineering” LLP “Caspimunaygas” in Nursaya microregion, Elorda av. 10.
The construction of the building started in September 2018. 4 stories building represents the symmetrical shape of opened book that demonstrates the availability of science to people. First floor has administrative service and conference hall for 160 people, second floor contained oil production research block, third floor – operational block with specialists, responsible for geological and geophysical works and implementation of innovative technologies, fourth floor – block of design and research works and institute management. Parking space for 50 vehicles is arranged on the territory of the building. APEC Petrotecnic college, Nazarbayev Intelectual school, “Miras” kindergarten and QSI International school are located adjacent to the building.
After the ceremony of cutting the lanyard, a ceremony of introduction with building held, then a video movie was demonstrated about the activity of an institute.
In the second half of a day in AOGU building at Azattyk av. 1, an international scientific and practical conference “Kazakhstan oil” has started: past, present and future dedicated to the 120th anniversary of Kazakhstan oil. The organizer of the conference was AOGU with the cooperation of EMG.
Conference was attended by 250 delegates from Russian Federation, Azerbaijan, Bashkortistan and Kalmykiya republics, Kyrgyzstan, Ecuador, Chad republic, representatives of RoK Ministry of Energy, RoK Ministry of Education and Science, management of national and international oil and gas companies, representatives from leading scientific and research technical universities of CIS and overseas countries, veterans of RoK oil and gas branch, students and Media.
- Glorious future of Kazakhstani oil industry was built at Emba fields. Sittings of 4 sections have taken place during the conference: «Innovational technologies of exploration, drilling and development of oil and gas fields», «Appraisal of current status and technologies development ways of hydrocarbons transportation and processing», «Ecological problems of oil and gas industry and their solution», «Perspectives of integration of education, science and operations».
In the evening, a festive Open Air concert was organized for the citizens and guest of oil capital on the upgraded square after M. Utemisov and I. Taimassov with participation of Kazakhstani starts and festive fire works.

Safi Utebayev – 1909 – 2007, «Honored oilman of USSR (1969). Honoured member of science and technology of KazSSR (1969 г.). Safi Utebayev was born in Kyzylkoginskiy region in 1909. He was among first reservoir engineers who graduated from Baku oil institute (1935). In 1935-45 – worked as engineer, director of oil production enterprise at Makat, Baichunas, Kulsary, Komsomolsk of “Embaneft” association. In 1945-51 – first secretary of Emba regional committee of CP of Kazakhstan. In 1951-57 – director of “Kazakhstanneft” association. In 1957-65 – chairman of Atyrau and West-Kazakhstan soviet public economy. In 1965-71 – director of “Kazakhstanneft” and “Mangyshlakneft” associations in the status of the Republic Ministry. In 1971-80 – deputy director of scientific research institute of technical information (KazSRITI) of State Plan of KazSSR. Has been selected as delegate of XXII-XXIV seating of Communistic Party of Soviet Union and was a delegate in Upper Counsel of KazSSR and USSR many times. Awarded with Lenin medal, October revolution, Great War, two medals of Labor Red Flag, “Honor sign”, “Otan” — (1999), «Barys» I degree (2004) and multiple medals and Honor diplomas.
«Caspimunaygas» - specialized scientific-research institute. Functions form 2004 and perform a wide range of scientific researches from exploration planning to the development of fields of NC KMG group of oil and gas fields. Owns laboratory research center, equipped with modern equipment that allows subsoil users performing quick and quality researches of core material. One of the main activity of a laboratory is the formation fluid testing laboratory. In 2014, institute has opened a geo chemical laboratory where the perform testing of fluids and rocks which allow determining oil origin places, its migration, accumulation of hydrocarbons in deposits.
“Embamunaygas” JSC – affiliated company of “National Company” KMG” JSC. Official track record of “Embamunaygas” activity starts from 1922 – since the foundation of trust “Embaneft” to develop Dossor and Makat fields. Main activities of the company: geological exploration, development of oil and gas fields; oil and gas production; oil and gas treatment. “Embamunaygas” JSC consists of 6 operational business units in Atyrau and 4 regions of Atyrau oblast: «Zhaiykmunaygas», «Dossormunaygas», «Kainarmunaygas», «Zhylyoimunaygas», “Embamunayenergo” management and “Maintenance and equipment supply management”. Company supplies oil to export and internal market. Oil in internal market is supplied to oil refineries in Kazakhstan. Oil export is supplied via two main routes: along Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) and Uzen-Atyrau-Samara (UAS). Export of sales gas is performed via national RoK operator in gas and gas supplies – “KazTransGas” JSC.
